Boardgames: Liberty or Death- An American Insurrection

I've loved games and puzzles my entire life.  For the past few months I've been part of the playtesti g team of a game called "Liberty or Death-The American Insurrection".  For specifics about the game from the designer and the company check out their Facebook page or boardgamegeek.com

So, what does a playtester do?  Playtest!  Our group suggests changes to rules to make the game easier to understand, or more thematic.   We also suggest changes to game mechanics to make the game more balanced, replay able, or perhaps to better model historical what if.  We might also suggest changes to the components of the game.  In the end, it's not our decision but the designer and developer are genuinely interested in our feedback.

The last few Friday nights have me perched on my computer, teleconferencing via Skype, for hours.

Great fun and a great experience.

Shopping at warehouse clubs

Getting ready for a weekly journey to our local warehouse clubs. Aren't these places great examples of excess consumerism? We buy food and cleaning supplies for the most part, andas a result are far from the average American warehouse club customer.

Food Subsidies and Taxes

There is an ad on TV around here that shows a lady complaining that the government is threatening to tax some of the foods that she buys for her family. Not fair, she proclaims. Well, guess what. It already happens in that some of the foods that we take for granted are that way through government subsidies. I'm wondering if this is the reason that junk food or snack food is often the cheapest items at the grocery store?

First Posting

Kinda threatening, but I want my first post to stay away from sex, politics, and religion. Here it is.

Safe, yes?
